Congratulate Me, I’m engaged!

“Congratulate me boys, I’m engaged!” sebuah kalimat dalam
film ‘jayus-nya’ The Beatles “A Hard Days Night”. Kalimat itu dilontarkan
kakeknya Ringo Starr yang konyol abies saat dia berhasil pdkt dengan seorang
perempuan muda dan cantik dalam kereta api.

Well, engagement seems to be something that used to celebrate. The word “congratulations” should be an expression of happiness.
But not for me. When people congratulate me, I just say “thanks” while my heart
says, “Congratulations for what?”

Most people feel happy for their engagement, but not me.
I’m crying on my engagement day. Most people smile while staring at the ring,
but I feel nothing for the ring…

I feel it’s not more than just a ‘joke’, coz everybody
laugh at me. They congratulate me, although my heart cries. I say “thanks” on
my lips, but my heart refuse.

Why do I feel this? Coz my wedding day is still uncertain.
I never congrat my engagement, coz if I congrat myself it means I say, “Selamat
ya Jat, kamu ‘digantung’!” to myself. Yup… still no certainty about my wedding.
I am asked to wait something I don’t know until when. I have to wait ‘Godot’,
and everybody congratulates me… Ironic.

engagement day)
